Huddle Up with ISPCAN! First Session begins Tomorrow, May 1st
Dear ISPCAN Members,
We would like to invite you to join us in the ISPCAN Huddle. The First Huddle Session begins tomorrow, Thursday, May 1st. 8:00am-10:00am MST
ISPCAN’s New Case Based Training Model
Grow, learn, share, connect, rise up and Huddle UP with ISPCAN!
Have you ever wished you could just REWIND and do things differently?
Multigenerational child sexual abuse, in the context of culture, family and systems of care will be explored. How the medical, mental health, and justice systems interact to protect and heal the child will be deeply examined. From the eyes of the child, we will hear the case, as it unfolds using a young survivor’s home movies as he recreates and tells his story (Watch movie trailer above).
Hear directly from our special guest Sasha Joseph Neulinger, Director of REWIND and Survivor. Sasha will courageously share his extraordinary story of child sexual abuse through his film REWIND.

People working in law, medicine, social work, psychology, law enforcement, education, research, public health, NGO, government, sport organizations, religious organizations, and any others that work in child sexual abuse cases are welcome. We want you to be part of the discussions and solutions.

Session 1 – May 1st, 2025
Introduction to the Huddle Concept & viewing of the film REWIND
In the opening session, participants will be introduced to the Huddle concept, outlining the training’s framework, learning objectives, and structure. In the second part of the session, participants will take part in a joint viewing of the documentary REWIND. The film is about multigenerational child sexual abuse, in the context of culture, family and systems of care will be explored. How the medical, mental health, and justice systems interact to protect and heal the child will be deeply examined. From the eyes of the child, Sasha Joseph Neulinger, we will hear the case, as it unfolds using his home movies as he recreates and tells his story.
Session 2 – May 8th, 2025
Identification
This session will focus on identifying the signs of CSA before a direct disclosure (noticing and addressing red flags) and around initial disclosure. In addition, we will focus on immediate response to the disclosure. Discussions will also address the role of institutional policies in early identification. Public health interventions begin with prevention-focused actions that are taken at a whole-of-population level, often through already existing universal service delivery platforms where contact with families occurs (i.e. health, education and childcare services), complemented by community-based actions and population-wide strategies. The latter includes information about child safety, awareness raising actions, regulations and controls, and provision of training, resources and supports – for professionals working with families, as well as direct provision of parenting skills and other supports for families themselves.
Session 3 – May 15th, 2025
Assessment
This session will explore best practices and policies for conducting initial assessments, gathering information in trauma informed strategies while spotlighting the child’s rights. Participants will discuss the roles of different professionals and the challenges at this stage.
Session 4 – May 22nd, 2025
Multidisciplinary Response
This session refers to the actions taken by professionals to address the abuse, and how collaborative efforts across multiple disciplines would have changed the responses. This session will focus on how different disciplines can work together to provide a collaborative response without incurring additional financial cost.
Session 5 – May 29th, 2025
Follow Up & Resilience
This session will focus on the ongoing support to children who underwent CSA. Participants will explore strategies for building resilience and promoting a sense of safety and stability. Multigenerational child sexual abuse, in the context of culture, family and systems of care will be explored. Practical strategies for how the medical, mental health, and justice systems must interact to protect and heal the child will be deeply examined. *The session will be accompanied by Mr. Sasha Joseph Neulinger, the film maker of REWIND.
