Session Summary

Building on momentum from the Global Ministerial Conference on Ending VAC that recognized parent and caregiver support as a critical strategy, this session will share insights from research and practice on what it takes to develop, implement, evaluate, and scale parenting programs to address violence against children (VAC) and violence against women (VAW) and promote gender equality in the family.

We will also share a case study of how Investing in Children and their Societies (ICS-SP) integrated a gender-transformative approach to address both VAW and VAC into its ‘Skilful Parenting’ programme and scaled it nationally in Kenya. Overall, the session will explore what it actually takes to effectively implement this promising approach.
