Session Summary

This session will focus on how evidence-based parenting support can be scaled to achieve real-world impact in preventing violence against children. The session, MC’d by Cassia Carvalho (WHO), will open with a keynote address by Professor Jamie Lachman (Oxford University & Parenting for Lifelong Health), who will share insights and global lessons on scaling parenting programmes.

A panel discussion moderated by Dr Isang Awah (Oxford University) will follow, featuring experts Sabine Rakotomalala (WHO), Professor Catherine Ward (University of Cape Town), Yvonne Agengo (IRC), Dr Amalee McCoy (Peace Culture Foundation), and Ruti Levtov (Prevention Collaborative). Together, they will explore the enablers and barriers to scale, adaptation across diverse contexts, gender-transformative practice, as well as how intersectoral partnerships can bridge the gap between commitment and implementation.

Participants will gain practical lessons on bridging commitments and implementation, and on strengthening collaboration between policymakers, researchers, and practitioners. The session will conclude with an interactive Q&A, and a Policy-to-Practice Brief will be produced to capture the key lessons shared.
