Country Presentations — Building Sustainable Child Protection Systems in Kiribati and Papua New Guinea
This session brings together representatives from the Governments of Kiribati and Papua New Guinea, each presenting for 20 minutes on their national child protection context and journey. Presentations are structured around three themes: context (the country's key characteristics, the strengths and challenges of its child protection system); progress so far (concrete steps taken to build sustainable, effective, preventative systems, how this was achieved, its impact, and remaining barriers); and looking forward (pledges and commitments to ending child abuse and neglect and upholding children's protection rights, and priorities for the coming months and years).
Following the presentations, discussion turns to three cross-cutting themes central to system strengthening: multisectoral coordination of child protection services and approaches; sustainable funding, effective resource use, and capacity building; and data and evidence. The session closes with an open Q&A.
The format is designed to let countries learn from one another's experience — surfacing what has worked, what hasn't, and where common barriers (coordination, financing, data) cut across very different national contexts — while anchoring the discussion in concrete commitments going forward.
