Session Summary

2025 marks 20 years since Somalia ratified the UNCRC. In this session we will reflect on progress made to date to protect and safeguard the rights of children in Somalia. Despite continued challenges of conflict, climate and capacities Somalia has made progress through collaboration, coordination and joint efforts of key protection stakeholders in Somalia.

This session will explore the system strengthening approach in Somalia looking at legislative framework in Somalia across various levels from National Instruments, Regional Frameworks to International Human Rights Conventions and Treaties Somalia has signed and efforts to ensure effective implementation through national strategies as part of Somalia's national child protection institutional frameworks.
