This Scoping Report has been developed as part of the EU co-funded project “Applying Safe Behaviours: Preventing and Responding to Peer Violence and Gender-Based Violence Amongst Vulnerable Children and Young People,” (2025-2027) which is implemented by SOS Children’s Villages and Terre des hommes in Bulgaria, Italy, Kosovo, Romania and Sweden. Through the scoping activities, we sought to understand gender-based risks for children and young people in each of the project countries, and how their experience of peer violence can differ depending on their age and gender. The project is conceptualized through a socio-ecological model8 to GBV and peer on peer violence prevention and response, recognizing that violence is influenced by and impacts multiple levels of an individual’s environment—ranging from personal and interpersonal relationships to community and societal structures. Interventions are designed to activate protective factors across these levels, including capacity-building and awareness-raising for children, young people and the adults and professionals who care for and work with them, collaboration with community stakeholders, and advocacy for systemic policy change. By centring the needs and rights of affected individuals, especially children and youth, the project aims to contribute to a more integrated and sustainable response to gender-based peer on peer violence.

CPC Learning Network concluded a four-year collaboration with the World Bank to prevent and respond to child sexual exploitation and abuse in development projects. As part of this work, we developed the Six Actions to Keep Children Safe toolkit — a set of practical resources designed to help organizations strengthen child safeguarding in development projects. Development projects bring economic and social change to vulnerable communities, which can sometimes disrupt local protection systems and increase risks to children — but they can also offer an opportunity to promote safer, more protective environments. This toolkit provides concrete solutions to help keep children safe from sexual exploitation and abuse. It offers practical guidance on training personnel and partners, integrating child protection into project design, and establishing accessible, child-friendly grievance mechanisms. Each tool has been tested in World Bank-financed infrastructure projects and can be adapted to your specific context.

The Hidden Dangers of Everyday Online Platforms: Instagram, Youtube, Roblox, and Snapchat are platforms that are popular among today’s youth. PACT is proudly part of the End Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children (OSEAC) Coalition, a network of allies who advocate for online safety. They recently hosted an eye-opening webinar exposing the hidden dangers of these platforms, featuring new research on Instagram’s teen accounts and a mother’s heartbreaking story of losing her daughter to fentanyl poisoning from a counterfeit pill obtained through Snapchat

This handbook provides comprehensive advice for policy-makers, practitioners, and stakeholders involved in the development, implementation, and monitoring of evidence based parenting interventions. It offers a practical, step-by-step approach to selecting, designing, evaluating, implementing, monitoring, and scaling up parenting interventions in different contexts, and by referencing relevant research and offering templates and other resources to support implementation, it acts as a bridge between the evidence for parenting interventions and practice

The ‘Caring for Children on the Move’ community is primarily aimed at practitioners and service providers working with children on the move, but is also relevant to programme managers, policymakers and academics working in the sector. The aim of the space is to build a global and collaborative group of stakeholders that works together to build support for change for children on the move, ultimately contributing to ensuring all children on the move are safe to live and develop, protected from harm, and can fully access their right to family care. Topics covered can range from preventing family separation, improving integration and reintegration, supporting mental health and increasing participation of children and young people on the move in the matters that affect them. Through this space members will also receive regular updates about the activities and projects taking place within the Family for Every Child alliance in relation to children on the move portfolio. Over 2024, the space will host a series of Q&A sessions, webinars and discussions, specifically focusing on Family’s newly-published ‘Supporting Integration’ toolkit!
